Sinking Into Saturday

Woke up this morning with a feeling of thirst

Apart from a dry mouth, not feeling the worst

Nothing a pint of water couldn’t cure

Then straight back to bed for more sleep, to be sure.

Arising by noon, as is my way

Sweet Mary Jane: the order of the day

I pack a wee pipe & set it alight

Filling my lungs with smokers’ delight.

The dopamine flows

My memory slows

I’m so high

Where was I?

Now I’m donning a dress, stepping outside

The sun shines down on far & wide

I head across town in the heat

Stop for pints & a bite to eat.

Tropical beer suits the weather

And nothing ever tasted better

Conversation ebbs & flows

Munching on fries until my appetite slows.

Got a date at 5 so I must run

He stands me up, that’s no fun

Wander home via an ice-cream parlour

In salted caramel flavour I indulge with ardour.

A quiet evening in the sun ensues

I feast on food as I battle the blues

Victory is mine, my spirit is strong

I’ll share my journey if you follow along.
