Coping With Change

We meet on a Monday & take it from there

To tackle our problems, our issues we share

We each choose a number between one & ten

To describe our mood, how we’re feeling just then.

Rodney, ever cheerful, he runs the class

Is an upstanding Christian, spends lunchtimes at mass

He runs through the numbers compared to last week

We meditate together & succumb to the deep.

With a TedTalk to follow Angel Positive Sound

Bevy Smith features with her story to expound

Telling how to discover our authentic selves

With a fairytale ending like The Shoemaker & His Elves.

Bevy rattles on as I keep on rhyming

Now she’s concluding with impeccable timing

We’ve had our tea break & enjoyed a smoke

Tea ends on a high note with a laugh & a joke.

Some breathwork is next, box breathing it is

Deep breathing relaxes me, settles my fizz

We’re following a schedule, running behind time

That’s not a problem, I work it into rhyme.

Inhaling for a count of four, then holding for the same

Letting it out slowly, for four again

Holding that exhale, counting down

Four, three, two, one & inhaling, we’re box breathing now.

A review of the class as afternoon ends

Is filled out by all through a rose tinted lens

Onwards & upwards for another week

A fine afternoon with memories to keep!

“It gets greater later.” Bevy Smith
