The first thing I saw was footprints in the snow
Yes, someone had passed here not so long ago
I followed the trail to a place I didn’t know
Carefully, mindfully, trudging along slow.
Next thing I noticed was the first signs of Spring
A snowdrop so brave, such beauty it did bring
Hope, Faith & Joy made me want to sing
Like a lark in the park or a bird on the wing.
Spring warmed into Summer in the blink of an eye
Trying to stay grounded as time passed me by
Footprints in the sand & seagulls in the sky
Once I told my Mom that I would teach folks how to fly.
In the Autumn of her life, she was wary of my speech
That did not silence me, I continued to preach
I rewrote the Rosary at my Mom’s request
And was packed off to the psych ward at our doctor’s behest.
Another stay under lock & key, a time for me to rest
Drugged up to the eyeballs, my shrink thought for the best
The Time is Now, I know & my vocation is to teach
And so I’ve come to blogging for my audience to reach.
