April Angst

Nonstop rain, it dampens my mood

Sends me to bed, whereupon I brood

Going up the walls but it’s all in my head

I beat myself up until I see red.

Thoughts are the enemy, sleep is my friend

Until dreams attack & I awaken to defend

In a state of post-traumatic stress

Dystopian dread, I must confess.

Night is falling & so am I

Feel like crying but my eyes remain dry

For now & for tomorrow I must stay strong

Please God, deliver me from all that is wrong.
